Cupcakes for CLIC sargent

Hello Again :0)

Its been a busy few weeks what with cakes and with trying to promote my business and of course with the kids but I’m hoping with my little man back at school i can get more organised and focused (I hate not being organised)

So this week is sample week so that I can get some pictures for my webpage of Halloween and Christmas cakes and cupcakes, I need to look at ways to increase orders and i am also doing some work towards national cupcake week fundraising I am trying to organise.

For those of you that don’t know, the week of the 17th is national cupcake week and I am taking part in fundraising for CLIC Sargent the children’s cancer charity, I am hoping to raise quite a bit of money for this amazing charity. I have asked for orders on my Facebook page and i am trying to get my sons school to let me sell cupcakes in the playground one afternoon after school (still waiting to hear back) I am also selling charity pins for £1 donation so even if you are too far away for cupcake you can always buy a pin or maybe organise something to do in your area

I will upload pictures of my sample cakes at the end of the week hopefully but until I have a chance I have uploaded some cupcake pictures from yesterday please have a look and feel free to leave some feedback

It’s oh so quiet

After a mad 2 weeks of making cakes (please she pictures posted and share your opinions) I have a quiet week to catch up on paperwork and cleaning and my blog which I have neglected (apologies)

So to catch up I have been very busy trying to promote the cake decorating business, feeling very frustrated at the amount of brick walls I keep banging my head into and at some points losing faith that I can succeed but this is what I want to do so I am learning to take the highs with the lows.

Plan for this week is to design a selling list for my farmers market stall which should be starting mid September, my initial thought was to offer large cakes to be sold my the slice and offer customers a bespoke service for ordering customised cakes this has evolved to now including cupcakes, brownies muffins the list goes on. I also need to work on some figures for a new design and catch up with cake order correspondence the only problem is finding the motivation to do the mundane tasks when in my head all I really want to do is make cakes lol

so if you have had a chance to look at the latest cakes you will see i have gone figure crafting mad please let me know what you think and also any feedback on this blog would be great, anything that you would like to see included or just let me know if you think I am waffling lol, the more feedback and guidance I get the more i can post new blogs and remember if you are liking this blog please share details with your friends and feel free to have a look at my Facebook page

busy busy busy

Firstly let me apologise for how long it has been since I have been on but I have been VERY busy. Thursday of last week got a last minute order for a 21st cake and they wanted the numbers A4 which required a lot of prayers and the help of my glamorous assistant to transfer over. So that was for collection on Saturday, I had a Blackberry mobile for Monday and a wrestling belt and Yu Gi Oh cake for today. Still have a Fireman Sam cake for this Saturday and 2 cake for next all of which require hand modelled figures so it is true there really is no rest for the wicked lol.

Thanks in no small part to the amount of hand carved cakes I have had this week I ended up with cake leftovers. Normally if it was one cake I would just leave them on the side for the cake fairy (my husband) to dispose of by morning. but because there was so many I decided to do the honourable thing and make Cake pops with it, unfortunately when I had everything prepared I discover that I had no lolly pop sticks left so they turned into Cake balls. Now i don’t know about everyone else but my cake balls seemed just TOO large so I have made a smaller (ball size) version today and I am liking them much more. No special requirements apart from some cake butter cream and melted chocolate great fun (if not a bit messy) for the kids to join in for.

Right I need to start my modelling wish me luck and i will post pictures of what you have missed this week :0)
